COVID and the 2022 Football Season

With COVID-19 still a community concern, it is important that every Abbotsford Juniors Football Club (AJFC) member understands the current guidelines agreed by football associations, government and government health agencies to ensure the safety of all players, coaches, club members, parents and the wider community.  This page provides important information on the guidelines currently in place for the 2022 season.

2022 Training Guidelines
The key guidelines for the conduct of football training sessions at AJFC are:

    •  Football pitches will be split into quarters and halves for training purposes

    •  Full squads will be allocated to either one quarter or one half pitch and must stay in their team groupings at all times

    •  Social distancing is advised for spectators and parents – at least 1.5m between people from different families at all times

    •  Person-to-person contact training drills (tackling or challenges) are allowed

    •  Where training bibs are used, they must be washed and returned after each training session

AJFC Operational Changes
There are minimal changes the Club has made to ensure the safety of members during this period:

    •  The Clubhouse will be open during training sessions and portable/training goals, training posts or other equipment will be possible at this time.

    •  Hand sanitiser stations are available

    •  COVID Safe signage and posters will be displayed prominently at the Club house.

Player Responsibilities
Our return to community football in 2022 will continue to be dependent upon everyone playing their part.  This is just as true of our players as it is our coaches, managers, volunteers and club officials.  Players returning to training should follow these simple guidelines:

•  Arrive at training 5 minutes prior, dressed and ready to start

•  Wash or sanitise your hands before and after training

•  Fill and bring your own clearly labelled water bottle from home. Do not share water bottles or other equipment.

•  And most importantly, do not attend training if you are unwell or exhibit any of the following symptoms: Fever, Cough, Fatigue, Sore Throat or Shortness of Breath.

COVID Safe Football Training (When required)
Football training during a period where COVID-19 restrictions are tighened may need to ensure no person-to-person contact drills (tackling and challenges) or games are conducted.  We’ve assembled a set of links providing examples of COVID safe training drills that coaches may wish to use in their training sessions should this prove to be the case during the 2021 Season.
